Italian restaurants can be found anywhere, however it is hard to get the “wow” factor nowadays and find a real italian restaurant with truly authentic Italian flavours. In the middle of a “working class” neighbourhood in Rijswijk however, you suddenly find a small but pittoresque Italian restaurant run by: Italians! Ristorante Pizzeria Marea is one of the few authentic Italian restaurants in the Netherlands that serve food like its made by nonna. As the owner is from Bari, Italy it is no surprise the restaurant is called: Marea (Tide). We ordered a carpaccio and the grilled vegetable salad as entrees. So simple, but the flavors were spot on! Fresh veggies roasted and caramelized perfectly. For the maincourse: spaghetti vongole and a fresh salt crust baked sea bream. The fish melted our mouth! And it is fileted in front of you at the table. Furthermore, where can you order a fresh salt crust baked sea bream anymore? As dessert the homemade pannacotta with a cup of coffee. Bravo! Marea is the kind of italian restaurant that seems to be forgotten by many people, who thjnk that “Happy Italy” serves Italian food. No! Try real italian food in Rijswijk at Ristorante Marea!
